Freezing a pheasant question

How long can I freeze a pheasant for to be used in a future mount? Can it just be placed in plastic bags and frozen? I want to mount it with a fox but I am waiting for a very nice fox.

Re: Freezing a pheasant question

I froze this one for a year before taking it, wrapped it in a garbage bag, nothing fancy

Re: Freezing a pheasant question

Fold the feet as much as you can into the feathers to keep them from getting freezer burnt. I use large heavy duty trash bags. I wrap the bird in the bag then double it back over itself and knot the bag. Get as much of the air out as possible. Try not to mess up any feathers.

There might be a better way to do it. I am sure a taxi will chime in soon.

head first in panty hose helps keep the feathers nice and tight. then like springspan said get all the air out of the bag!

He never said it would be easy;
He only said it would be worth it!
