Worlds only Hog Rug?

Below are pics of my 2010 South Carolina hog. Already having a couple of hog head mounts (my wife calls them “Pig Faces” ), I thought I’ve have the skull done. As an afterthought I asked the guide to have the hide tanned. Evidently he misunderstood me and the result is what you see here: perhaps the worlds only hog rug. Turned out pretty cool. If anyone knows of any others, let me know!

Re: Worlds only Hog Rug?

I did a rug like that with a mouflon ram and a bison- same customer. Not open mouth though. The buffalo also had no feet and was not lined/felted. That hog looks really cool!

here's the ram

bison

I think one of a whitetail would be neat.

Re: Worlds only Hog Rug?

LOL groundhog, that would be neat actually! A nicely furred one with few scars, and of BIG size ( fall fatties), with the feet and claws and the head mounted with the incisors. I could make a rug for anything pretty much. For a groundhog, I could use the skinned out head as my model to carve a head and then make it into a rug shell, insert the teeth and eyes, and then mount the soft tanned skin and tack it out to dry, and later put a simple felt backing on it.
