Looking for a new taxidermist

I know now is not the best time to start looking, but just curious if there is anybody GOOD out there 40 minutes north of Pittsburgh. At this point I will travel, but I have dealt with some locals that did average work. I am very particular with mounts, and I am looking for top notch work. Any names would be great, thanks

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking questions.

Re: Looking for a new taxidermist

My former taxidermist closed up shop last week, and is no longer taking animals . . . great . . . I just tagged out yesterday and wanted it mounted.

Re: Looking for a new taxidermist

Check the PTA website http://www.pataxidermy.com
There is a link there to find a taxidermist near you. Research web sites and then visit the studios personally to make your final decision.
Kudos to you to take the time to actual do some research!

Re: Looking for a new taxidermist

Congrats on doing the research but why limit yourself to a 40 min drive if its a once in a lifetime animal that you will be looking at for the next X number of years. I did the research and got recommendations on where to take my last mount also and ended up taking it to Paul C. I have a few more I hope to get done also and when I need them done they will be going back to him.

Re: Looking for a new taxidermist

natures realm taxidermy...that me....27 years in the business, can mount anything you like. In the Sarver/Cabot area about 30 minutes north of pittsburgh. I deal with some high end clients with high end mounts on a regular basis.
I do not advertise but have a brochure. Another place to find your answer would be http://www.taxidermy.net a great starting point.....plenty of taxidermists in the area your looking for.

Re: Looking for a new taxidermist

I second Kevin Lane. Great guy, easy to get along with, and great work. I will be dropping my buck off this week and just picked one up about a month ago.
