Fate of an old mount

I had been given this mount of this buck by a friend in his 80's and failing health(his wife really wanted it out of the basement). The deer was shot in 1945 in Dauphin county by his father he had told me.I really did not want it, but felt bad and did not want to see it go in the trash.Still has the taxidermist name and sticker from Hershey,Pa on it which is no longer around. I was told I could just take the head off and use the plaque if I ever needed it, but I hate to separate them. Not sure if another taxidermist would want this old mount?Any ideas?

nice buck and vintage mount. Donate to a Sportsmans club? One near where it was taken might like it.

I see you named the pic Stoner Buck; was that the gentleman's name or was it killed in Stony Valley?

Reason I ask is there is a taxi in Stony Valley by the name of Jim Keller, and if the buck was killed in the valley he might be interested?

I would see if the taxi is still alive (probably not) and if so have him clean it attend to any needed repairs and donate it in both their names.

Don't shoot brown ducks!!

Our club just took 4 down to throw away and my son took them home . He has no idea what to do with them but could not see trashing them !
Very few people want some ones old mounts or dust catchers ! They tend to get in the way on the walls after a few years ?

Not only dust catchers. Many of the old ones have arsenic used in the mounting process to keep bugs out of the mount. I wouldn't want one of those in my home.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!
