Interested in learning more about taxidermy.

Hello all, I was wondering if to become a taxidermist, is it an apprenticeship or actual schooling? I'm artistic. I have done Tatoos for others and even all of the artwork on myself is my work (except the actual inking lol). I was just wondering how it works.

Re: Interested in learning more about taxidermy.

you can go to school to get "well rounded" instruction on all types of taxidermy ( mamals, fish, birds ) or if you have a type you want to specialize in you can take one on one classes with the best in the business in their specialty. Go to http://www.taxidermy.net and search all the forums search old posts and use the beginners and the training sections. if you become a member there you can post and ask opinions. my husband is considering offering 2 day classes. good luck!

ps... you will need to ge your license then when you are comfortable doing work for anyone other than yourself.

A word to the wise about taxidermy.net's forums- have thick skin, and don't let George Roof bother you LOL. He may act negative alot, but he's actually full of really good advice.

Awesome, thanks all. I just didn't know the process. I'm currently in my master's degree (oweing a ton of money! lol) just wondering if I could try it out before I would need more money. lol
