A split rail post with some rusty barbwire on it makes a great pedestal for a mount. Look into it!

I see said the Blind Carpenter to his Deaf Helper as he picked up his Hammer and Saw!

Re: Pedastal Ideas

Here's one I had done from the 2009 season. The pedestal was custom made by a local custom cabinetry shop from a picture out of Mckenzie's Taxidermy catalog. I had them make it 28" high instead of 36" like Mckenzie's. The top is removable too so the mount can be secured properly. Not to mention they made it for $200, instead of $500 like they are in the catalog.

I like the old fence post with barbed wire idea, but didn't feel it was appropiate for a big woods deer as they seem to be more suited for farm country deer, imho.

Iím a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

Re: Pedastal Ideas

Yes, Really like the fence post idea! I looked at all the traditional pedastals and the look just doesn't do it for me - too "classy"... I like some type of knotty pine post or fence post. Guess I'll look into it. My taxi will do the deer as a pedastal but does not do custom bases. Guess I have some homework to do

Re: Pedastal Ideas

They are all awesome, love the coyote too. But my favorite is the deer with the border behind it. Try and google (images) "deer pedestal mounts". Should be able to get some ideas that way!
