A surprising email

Got an email from my taxi today. Says he mounted my deer head and has to let it dry for a few weeks. If included pics, showing where someone's arrow went into the shoulder and came out the bottom of the neck. He suspected it was from the first week. I shot him the last week of October. A find that interested me and shows how tough of an animal they are. This is public land and I know they are four guys that spend some time there.. so it was probably one of them.

I had a hard time deciding to shoot this buck. He stood under me for 2-3 minutes before I decided to. Then I spent a couple days debating if I wanted to mount it. It was borderline what I like to shoot and probably a little less on the antler size on what I like to considering mounting. However, the encounter was interesting as he made three scrapes on his way to me while busting laurel the whole way. Now I got to see a scar from his recent past which would have went unknown otherwise. Pretty neat.

It's a good spot. Just not today.
