Taxidermist /What is it like now.

What are the taxidermist like now days since you don't need to be tested for a license ?
The older folks were tested to get a license but now, i guess you can go buy one ?

You should always check a taxidermists work before you consider using his services. Whether he has taken a test or not. I believe there are quite a few great taxidermists that have never taken a test to acquire a license. I don't think there are any states that require testing to obtain a taxidermy license.

exactly what Joeyfont said.

always, always check the work before leaving the trophy and money. just because a person is licensed doesn't mean they are good. just because one guy does excellent deer, the fish might look bad.

check the work on the specie of animal you want mounted. forget price, high price doesnt mean great work just as low price doesnt mean poor work.

last time i knew all you had to do was fill out a form, pay $100.00 and you are an instant Taxidermist. the Dept of Agriculture is now in charge of licensing Taxidermists in Pa.
