1st taxidermy attempt

I trapped, tanned, and mounted this fox myself. All three of which are hobbies/skills that I picked up this winter and as you all know they quickly become obsessions (especially when you're out of work haha). Take a look and all advice is welcome. I think I can play with the fluffing the hair alot more but everytime I do it seems I end up going in circles. hairspray? toothbrush? Gonna start on a base for it soon but I'd like to detail the mount itself a little more before I'm satisfied.

Re: 1st taxidermy attempt

it would add alot of visual appeal if you wet the hair down on the legs and blew it dry against the growth (blow it up not down). that would add some volume to the legs.

keep at it!

Re: 1st taxidermy attempt

I don't know what happened to my original post. Oh well... I'll start again.

Before degreasing and blowdrying as advised by foxtrapperwoman and others. Apparently degreasing is not an option even on fox...

After. Finished. On the wall for good. Thanks to all who I learned from this trapping season on this website. Don't know what I'd do without the internet...(never thought I'd say that...)

Very nice job, why not take the test for taxidermy, you seem to have nack for it, you may not be out of work very long. Nicely done!
