Fox hide question

Figured I'd try furhandling this year and shot a fox two weeks ago. Skinned and fleshed it put it inside out on a metal stretcher for around 18 hours. After that flipped it on the stretcher. Looked at the fur yesterday and the skin is like a blackish color. Is that okay? I've read about spoiling hides and I'm not sure if I did that or not. I did not treat the fur with any tanning solution. Also not looking to sell this. Any help would be appreciated.
