absolutely beautiful mount but after seeing a video a friend brought home from africa i could never kill a zebra. the thing put it's head in his blind and then walked out to the water hole and he shot it and proceeded to go nuts. i just couldn't figure out where his excitement was coming from.
You want me to put my ear to the ground? Listen for hoof beats? Look for broken twigs?
Very nice, really like the skin side panels. Would be nice to have a set of these with the different zebra species. But for a single animal I like a full size rug, really sets off a hunting room, the entire hide is beautiful. What happened to what wasn't used for the mount?

In the Selous bar none there is nothing spookier than the zebra, either by sight or smell instantly they were gone, absolute zero tolerance, no waiting and looking. Over several days and after several botched stalk attempts it was decided the only way was for me to go alone (no ph) to get within range. So in knee high grass I had to stalk on my belly a couple hundred yards. Almost every day we saw cobra or mamba and I know there were other dangerous species that we didn't see. Was also concerned about some kind of insect like scorpions that we'd get in the tents at night. Was a little nerve racking to keep an eye both on the ground and on the herd while crawling, if I did come across something it would only be inches away if that. Tried to keep a tree between us but there were about 10 in the herd and they were spread out over 100 yards wide so not so easy. Just like turkey if a single one busts you they are all gone. Finally got to about 150yds and then had to pick the stallion out by size and actions. It was a memorable part of the hunt.
