Re: Tanned deer cape

7 X 20's are easy to come by. I have several in that size but they are still raw, frozen. Why does it need to be tanned?

Re: Tanned deer cape

That's no reason to quit. What happened to make you think YOU ruined it? You're never going to learn by having someone else do it for you.

Re: Tanned deer cape

I'm sure there is a place to buy a cape. I just thought maybe someone on here could direct me there.

Re: Tanned deer cape

Check with the tanneries TK. East Coast Tannery usually keeps a pretty good stock of tanned capes for sale. They attend the PTA Convention every year in Seven Springs with a pile of em.

Re: Tanned deer cape

If you are a beginner taxidermist, you should start off practicing on smaller bucks and on does. Same goes for say a fox or coon- mount the ordinary ones, not an albino or something LOL. Save the cool stuff for when you feel you have reached the right level.
