Re: Bear Rug

I like a bear rug just plain with no backing. But I would probably hang it on a wall.

Re: Bear Rug

if you cant find any other alternitives how about just black felt without the other color. it would just blend in and probably make the cape appear larger. just a thought.

Re: Bear Rug

I wondered the same thing. To me it doesn;'t seem like there's much to them. Maybe they use hide paste on the felt and bear, then sew it? I couldn't tell ya.

Re: Bear Rug

What are you going to do with the head, most bear rugs with felt also have the head mounted, open or closed mouth. I have 3 tanned bear hides that I just hang from hooks, but I could also put them on something as a throw. I have a zebra rug with felt but on them the head is ironed flat, looks good.

Re: Bear Rug

The rugs for bears that I do for customers have the felt and padding/backing done by a professional taxidermy rugger. There is padding, a canvas looking backing and 2 layers of scallopped felt on the edges, as well as hangers. Many customers opt for 2 layers of black felt on black bear rugs, it makes the skin look larger.

Re: Bear Rug

My brother had his done with black felt and It looks Incredible. I would definatly suggest going this route.
