How to make a darker blue

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I want to paint a head for a lesser scaup. I bought the paint called widgeon blue, that according to the catalog is suppose to be used for a lesser scaup as well. I was hoping to make bill a little darker blue than the widgeon blue in some areas.

Can I just spray the widgeon blue down as the base and then add just a shade of black, than spray over it again with the widgeon blue to make a darker blue?

Thanks in advance for your responses and help

Re: How to make a darker blue

I go sailfish blue then widgeon blue. If you have a good air brush you might achieve a darker blue with black but I use dark brown for things like this. Just my way, everyone has there own way. Hope this helps, randy kuntz
