compact binoculars?

I was looking to get a compact set of binos for archery & turkey hunting and saw these (Steiner™ 8x22 Predator Pro Binoculars) on another site for sale.

If anybody has a pair are they worth getting? I have a good pair of Kahles 8 x 40, but want something smaller.

Re: compact binoculars?

Many years ago, I got tired of carrying a heavy binocular on a neck strap all day, and decided to get a small roof prism. Went to different stores, bought Bushnell, Simmons, Tasco and other cheapos. Did not like any of them, mostly because in bumping around they all lost focus. Returned every one for a refund. I finally bit the bullet and bought a high end Leica roof prism 10x25 binocular. That was 20 years ago, it cost $300, and now they are near $500. I still carry that binocular every time I hunt anything, and have never had a problem with it. The glass is outstanding. It is always in focus. In optics, you get just what you pay for.

Check the 24HourCampfire.com Optics Forum. There is a lot of info regarding different brands.

8x30 Leupold Yosemites are about as compact a pair of binocs that interest me. Love mine, have for the past three years.

I have these as well but in a 6x30. IMO, "compacts" are really not that good. Had a few over the years and they were just terrible to use.

Re: compact binoculars?

Precisely why I love the Yosemites. Large enough to work well, small enough not to notice they've been around your neck all day.

I have had a pair of 8X Steiner's for 5-6 years. I have no complaints.
