Most chaps are a royal pain if they get wet. I quit using them when I discovered Columbia Briarshun pants. Nothing comes through them, and nothing sticks to them, but they feel like a pair of jeans. Mule clothes are probably the toughest out there, but they look like, well, you be the judge!

I use Filson, spend the extra $ for the zippers on the cuffs and they will go over your boots. I wore down my first unzippered set of filsons after about 15 years, now my son uses them, the cuffs slowly wore away and there about 3" shorter than new.

Re: Hunting chaps ?? opinions needed ??

I just bought another pair of chaps. wore out the last pair. I think they are great, especially the water proof chaps. for a quick hunt over a pair of jeans, I am dry and go through the briars as if it is just another weed patch.

Filson's are pretty good but like timberdoodle posted, Mule clothes are like indestructable. I'd like to meet the guy that could wear them out.

I tried a bunch of different chaps over the years. Finally ended up with a simple product that are built like a tank. That is an oversized pair of CarHart heavy duty Bib Overalls. Tom.
