What is your go to knife for deer?

I love my buck 110 (although it is heavy) but I like also the Browning with the hook and the saw? I am trying to find my first or one like it a cased 330.

Buck 110, I also have a smaller buck knife that I use on small game and what not. I have a gerber gut hook that uses regular contractor utility blades and makes quick work of opening up the stomach.

A custom made drop point that I made from a piece of D-2 Tool Steel, heat treated, polished and sanwiched it between a couple of laminate slabs.

Keeps a great edge, plus theres something kinda cool about using a knife that I made!!

Got mine back in in 1969. It has gutted and cut up more deer than I can count. Has had the blood of three different elk on it, a couple of bears and probably a dozen hogs.
Just brought it out of the gun cabinet last week, touched up the edge a little. It could shave my beard off if I wanted, but I would probably cut my throat if I tried.

Re: What is your go to knife for deer?

My deer knife since I was twelve is my USMC KA-BAR. My old man a former marine gave it to me when I shot my first buck and tought me how to use it correctly. Sure I could always use a smaller knife, but it's a Marine Corps. knife given to me by a USMC Gunnery Sgt.. In fact, I have never taken a deer (and I have taken many) when I didn't have it with me. Lost it in the red brush once too! backtracked and found it and to this day it is secured to the sheath with a leather thong over the snap. Shaving sharp and It has dressed deer, hogs and elk
