Which msr or katadyn water filter should I get for backpacking? Please include pros and cons of each one.

No idea> But I'm sure if you go to a few of the hardcore backpacker forums you will get a ton of filter knowledge.

Good Luck!

I have the katadyn hiker pro, never had one before so I have nothing to compare it to. I bought the hiker pro because everyone I talked to said that was a good one and the one they use.

I picked up one of these. Haven't used it yet. Anyone else have anything to say about them?

Re: water filter opinions needed

Have had an MSR Sweetwater for over 10 years. It gets used pretty heavily by Boy Scouts about twice a year and I have had zero trouble with it. One of my assistant scoutmasters has had two Katadyns that have both cracked due to freezing overnight. Below is a link to the MSR filter on Campmor's website.

JM Wagner that was the information that I was looking for since I remember how hard things were used when I was in Boy Scouts over 20 years ago.
