I'm 15 and don't know much about scopes at all. What is parralax?

look thru scope at a long distance say 300 yds now move your head left and right you will notice the crosshairs seem to move on the target.that is parrelex at longer ranges it will move your impact .it is like a fine focus on your scope.someone else can probably explain it better than i.
