upland hunting coat

I'm looking for a new upland coat preferrably something with the orange sewn in, vests get to be a hassle.

Anyway I have yet to find one that lasts me more thana few seasons before the sleeves and bottom are shredded. I'd like to buy a good one that will last for quite awhile??

Any suggestions??

Re: upland hunting coat

I have a nice one that Browning makes, you can un-zip the
sleeves and take them off if it gets a little warm plus it has a fleece vest inside that you can also un-zip and take out.
Actually I use it for deer hunting also.I use the game bag
in the back for my hot set and other stuff for deer hunting.

Here is a video on it I don't know why they don't mention
the inside fleece and zip off sleeves.

Wow Bass Pro has them for $99.00 I paid almost twice that when they first came out but it was still worth it,it will last you for years.

Used to work at a place that carried the Pella Bird'n Lite.
The jacket has zipoff sleeves which makes it dual purpose.
The suspension system for load carrying works very well.

Re: upland hunting coat

I'd love to own a Filson just not sure if I can pull the trigger on that price? Then again if I add up the 1/2 dozen lesser coats I've been through over the years I could have had a nice Shelter Cloth coat that will last a lifetime??

Anyone own a Shelter Cloth coat? Oil finished or Dry Cloth? what kind of yearly maintenance do they require? Waxing?

Re: upland hunting coat

I had a Filson Tin Cloth upland hunting coat which lasted for about 10 years of hard use, it stood up to briars and rain pretty well during that time. Last year one of the pockets wore out and I sent it back to Filson for repair, they sent me a brand new coat as a replacement for no charge.
The coat is a little heavy, so I tend to wear it only in cold weather or if I expect to hunt heavy cover, but overall I think itís a nice coat and a pretty good value.

Re: upland hunting coat

Oh sorry you asked about maintenace also. The coat came with a tin of wax finish, each year Iíll pick a hot August day and set the coat outside for awhile and dab some of the wax on any places that looked dry\worn.
