Grinder Question...Help!

I recently purchased a grinder and slicer from Cabelas. Instructions say to use food grade silicone spray on knives and plates to prevent rust.

Had somewhat of a hard time finding some. Checked online and some was pretty expensive and shipping was salty at other places. My local restaurant supply only had it in tubes which I thought would be a p.i.t.a.

What do you grinder owners use and where do you get it?

Thanks

Eh...wot?

i dont use any, when don,dry with paper towels and set out to air drye washing them rinse with the hottest water you can stand, then let out to air dry.mine never rust.also keep one knife with each plate.dont mix plates and knives try to use same side plate with that knife and your knives will stay sharp a lot longer

i use pam on mine too. mine are fairly new...but stored in the garage. I put them in ziplocks with a spritz of pam or canola spray. no rust yet.

Re: Grinder Question...Help!

We use ours pretty often and store in the house (low humidity in winter). We wash in hot water and air dry like JS does. We spray with conola oil if we are going to be not using for a while. Something I like to do is, after the meat is ground, run some whole wheat toast or real stale bread through the grinder. It will scour the fat out pretty well b4 washing.
