Butler Creek Scope Covers Problem(s)

I recently bought four scope covers for my Nikon. Initially I bought only two. Front and Rear. Both cracked and were unusable and I didn't have time to fix before my NY late muzzle loader hunt so I bought another set and they cracked too. What's up with this company? Their scope covers used to be great but four cracked covers. The first set cracked in my kitchen just trying them. Second set cracked during my hunt. Temps in the 20's but that shouldn't even matter.

Monday they will be getting a call or email from me. Anybody else having issues with the scope covers?

Never had any problems either. Have 3 sets on 3 different scopes and the one set of covers is waaaaay past 20 years old.

Re: Butler Creek Scope Covers Problem(s)

I had one on a rifle of mine for many years, it cracked recently. The two sets I bought were from two different stores. I'm at a loss unless poor manufacturing on recent production runs.

I have had 3 sets and no problems here. One set was quite old. I really like the blizzard series ones with the clear covers.

Re: Butler Creek Scope Covers Problem(s)

I've never had problems with cracking but you mentioned a Nikon scope. I use to have a Nikon Buckmasters and due to the shape of the ends of the scope the covers never fit quite right. Other Nikon scope models have a similar shape, could be a contributing factor. I never had problems with covers on my Bushnell scopes.

Re: Butler Creek Scope Covers Problem(s)

They all cracked at the pivot point where it attaches to the cover portion. The rear fits easily and the front goes on a little tight but not too tight. I'll post some pics later.

A lot of you guys have them but did anybody purchase them recently?

I got some about a month ago. no problems with them. like most people are saying maybe you got a bad batch. try a different store.

Should I shoot? I don't care, im not the one holding the gun, if it was me, we'd be skinning by now.

Re: Butler Creek Scope Covers Problem(s)

I have been using them for years with no problems. I did break one but if I remember right it was my fault
