Ollie North picked the wrong hill to die on

Oliver North steps down as NRA president amid dispute over 'damaging' information
Lucas Jackson
4 MIN READ

INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - Retired U.S. Marine Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North will step down as president of the National Rifle Association, North said on Saturday, adding he was being forced out due to his allegations that NRA leaders engaged in financial improprieties.

In a letter read to the organization’s annual meeting in Indianapolis by an NRA board member, North, a conservative commentator best known for his central role in the 1980s Iran-Contra affair, said he had hoped to run for re-election when his term ends on Monday.

“I am now informed that will not happen,” North said in the letter.

if North has any proof of financial wrong doing he should bring it to the board. if the proof shows that the board knows about it, then the evidence goes public and to the proper authorities.

just because its the NRA doesnt mean they can do as they please with our funds. they are not above the law.

Supposedly North was involved in an extortion scheme to get Wayne La Piere to resign... North supposedly knew that the NRA paid 200,000 dollars to fund La Pieres wardrobe...And told La Piere if he resigned he would not reveal it or make it public... Apparently they need more oversight on expenditures...

I've always been a member of and supported the NRA no matter what has happened. They have a heavy hand in protecting our gun rights.

Right now it appears the NRA isn't the problem. The problem is the public relations firm, Ackerman McQueen. The NRA used the firm for PR work and paid them big bucks. It was estimated about 40 million over the years. North is working for and with Ackerman McQueen on other projects not associated with the NRA.

The NRA had concerns about Ackerman McQueen's billing and asked the firm to explain its charges and expenses and it hasn't. The NRA filed suit to get the info.

It looks like Ackerman McQueen asked or conned North into trying to get LaPierre to step down in an effort to stop the law suit from going forward. It appears it didn't work.
