Scope Recommendations

Last night I picked up a new Sako Finnlight in 300 Win Mag. This rifle will be replacing my Remington 700 7mm Rem Mag as my Potter County bear rifle and will probably go out west for elk and mule deer in the next couple years (as soon as my daughters' dance schedules permit it). I'm looking at the Swarovski Z5 series (thanks to my buddy 88 acres), but I also haven't ruled out something from Trijicon or Zeiss. Basically, I'm looking for some more opinions....pros/cons...personal experiences...whatever. Fire away!

Shut Up and Drill

Re: Scope Recommendations

Go with the top of the line Leupold since you are looking at very expensive scopes and American made.I have one and they are top notch.

Re: Scope Recommendations

My friend has a Sako 75 Finlight in 300WSM and he went with a 3.5-10x40 VXIII with the B&C reticle.

Re: Scope Recommendations

When you're talking about high end scopes I think it becomes more personal preference than anything. All will serve you well, I like Leupold for the most part on my hunting rifles. My comp guns all wear nightforce , I just can't bring myself to drop that much $$ to put on a gun I drag though brush, briars, snow, rain, etc. Someday I hit the lottery they'll all have nightforce and S.&B.. for now, Leupold.

Re: Scope Recommendations

If you can afford it go with Swarovski or huskamaw, don't skimp on glass.

Re: Scope Recommendations

Since you have a lightweight rifle you will find the Leupolds to be the lightest of all the premium hunting scopes...

A Leupold is never a mistake for a hunting scope, IMO....

Re: Scope Recommendations

My Sakos dress for the occasion they all wear Bushnell Elites with rainguard. Don't sell them short! Look through a Leupold and an Elite side by side. Advertised as the worlds brightest scope ? Read a comment from a guy who owned Leupolds then bought an Elite and said all his Leupolds are now for sale!

I have an Elite with Rainguard. They are nice, but heavy, about 6/7 ounces heavier than the vxii's.

Side by side on the range, my Zeiss Conquest outclasses my Leupold vxiii.
