Difference between SR and R1 Ruger 1911

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two ? I was just recently at a gun bash and hit a ticket for choice of table. Being that I don't own a handgun I decided on a ruger r1 1911 under the recomendation of my brother. Also, I really don't know much about handguns but was wondering if any of you have any opinions on this weapon.
Thanks

The SR45 is a styker fired double action auto.

The SR1911 is a Browning design 1911 single action auto.

I'm pretty sure the R1 is Remingtons 1911 SA auto.

Re: Difference between SR and R1 Ruger 1911

You need to define what you want first.

All 3 of those handguns are large. 2 of them are 1911's and if you don't know much about handguns I'd avoid them. Not that they are unsafe, they aren't as dummy proof as the new striker pistols or the double/single action as opposed to being just single action.

I think all 3 are well made.

But you really need to define what you want yourself, before you go to the gunstore. If you want a large steel single action that is beautiful and accurate, but has less capacity then get a 1911. If you want high capacity and 45 acp with a nearly dummy proof operation, get the SR.

If you want something more compact and concealable, look for something else.

The deer didn't disappear.... the 250,000 guys who used to walk around and make the deer move did.

Buy the 1911 and don't look back. Every guy needs at least two SA autos, one being the 1911 and the other a Browning HI-Power. You got the rest of your life to buy plastic pistols.
