Is there away to shim the rings or do I need to shim base? I would like to shim rings.what material can be used,as in brass or some sort of tape? need some expertise.thanks

Slices of aluminum cans inside the rings works good

Re: best way to shim a scope

I put brass or SS shims between the ring and the scope. I have also used electrical tape.

I have shim material. Give me an idea what thickness you need. If I have it I'll send you some.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

To do it right.. burris makes offset inserts for their signature rings. Shimming it like mentioned above works on the cheap though.

Re: best way to shim a scope

I cut up credit cards into strips and put em under the appropriate ring - in your case the rear ring. Works good and helps my credit score.

Try a business card on the bottom of the back ring .

This is the "best" way, I have a couple scopes that set me back a few dollars and would be hesitant to shim the rings in fear of putting unwanted stress on the scope itself. You could probably get away with shimming a one piece base but the signature rings are awesome.

I'll check. I should have that.
