Why....

Why is it that I can ship firearm parts that do not require an FFL through any USPS office I want to but if I try and ship the same exact thing via UPS it must be shipped through a UPS Customer Service Center?

The problem is that I don't know what I don't know.

Re: Why....

Cause people that own the shipping centers are stupid.

Re: Why....

UPS is a private company with their own rules for certain items, be they regulated or not.
USPS belongs to all of us and must follow federal guidelines, although at times some USPS deadheads try to tell you differently.

Close. But not quite right.

There are no UPS regs prohibiting the shipment of non-FFL parts.

The UPS STORES however are privately owned franchises like Subways or McDonalds. The owner of that franchise can make whatever rules he or she wants pertaining to package contents.

Re: Why....

No one said there were, the term REGULATED was in reference to our government. UPS is a privately held entity. Like many others, they have some policy that is counter productive and ridiculous, based on a media heightened fear of firearms. Lets not attempt to split hairs gentlemen.

I thought UPS was a publicly held entity

Re: Why....

Ha Ha Rob O ! Traded publicly, Yes ! Heck I am a stockholder, LOL! Some of their bizaar gun rules were in response to UPS employees stealing guns. That was some years ago, but that's why they require handguns go overnight.

It is but it is still a private ownership being owned by stockholders.

I ship parts frequently via UPS. If they are expensive I itemize them and list them as machined parts. No one from UPS has ever asked me about parts. I do ID firearms and pay for the special handling.

There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.

Re: Why....

My comment was a little humor for JTL. I am well aware that UPS is owned by stockholders.
