Remmington 770 or Mossberg trophy hunter?

I was looking at buying one of these 2 guns at Dicks sporting goods. The remmington is on sale for $279 and the mossberg is on sale for $299. Does anyone have any information on what is the better gun,or are they just about equal?I have been away from the hunting seen for many years and no longer have any of my old guns.I want to get back into it but my job and family take up mosy of my free time.I dont want to spend a ton of money only to find out that i got out in the woods 1 time and thats it. If anyone can help i would appreciate it , thanks.

The remington is just the new version of the model 710. all they changed was the stock color. They are JUNK. I have a mossberg 100 atr and while it is not top quality, it is a fairly suitable firearm. Do yourself a favor and spring an extra 50 100 bucks and by a savage. you won't regret it.

Life is like a coin, you can spend it anywhere you like, but you can only spend it once.

The magazine latch was updated also.I wouldn't call it junk, but it's a good gun for the money.Hey i'm a Rem. man! But,uncysid is right! For about another 100 bucks you could get a savage. They have come a long way!

Spend another $60 or so and buy the Savage package they also have featured.

I am a die hard Remington man, that being said I believe that the 710 was a better gun than the 770 and I think the 710 was junk. Buy a savage best bang for the buck if you are on a budget. Looking in to buying one myself.

Re: Remmington 770 or Mossberg trophy hunter?

I have been bragging Savage bolt actions up for a few years now, but lately they have just about priced themselves out of the economy marketplace with the exception of the Stevens line.......My new pick would be one of the Weatherby Vanguards (Howa)...I have one in 257 Wby., and it is one, solid gun, plus it shoots very small groups.
