Re: Marlin 39 lever action

Nice rifle and it takes down, had is since 1970s. Used it in April in Montana shooting 300+ rounds a day at gophers.

Accuracy is as good as most 22 bolt guns, dine size groups at 25 yards, 10 shots. Trigger is not good.

Re: Marlin 39 lever action

I have 4(39Carbine, 39D, 39 Octagon,& 1897 Cowboy) of them here right now and will be picking up another(1954 Ballard) this weekend. I still "need" one with the heavier barrel for silhouette. LOL
Triggers can be worked on by a gunsmith.
The older 39s are predomianate at the Lever Action Silhouette matches. That should say something for them.

Re: Marlin 39 lever action

I have one (Model 39AS). It's a decent shooter.

It must be chambered awfully tight. I have to be really careful what ammo I use. If I buy something like a brick of Remington Thundebolts, they'll hang up left and right in mine. I now shoot CCI standard velocity, and have no problems with them hanging up.

Re: Marlin 39 lever action

I really want to get a 22 lever, whether it be a 9422, browning, or Marlin.
