Mini-14

How accurate is the standard mini-14? I'm not talking about rifle plus marksman, I want to know what the gun is capable of.

Re: Mini-14

I had one that would easilly shot 3/4" groups at 100 yards with a scope and the right weight bullet (50-55 gr max)and inside a golf ball with open sights off the bench so yeah, I would have to say they have some potential.

Thanks for the response. That's excellent accuracy! Gotta get me one of them.

Re: Mini-14

The new ones are supposedly more accurate than the older versions, but I have no complaints about my SS/wood 196 series. Cost me $400 (used) several years ago, in mint condition w/rings.

It'll do about 2" at 100 yards with ammo it likes, with an NECG peep sight I installed on it a few years back.

Not as accurate as the Bushmaster CMP competition AR I once had, but plenty accurate enough. And it's far less fussy about cleaning than the AR.
