make a 20 gauge out of a 1100

i have a remington 1100 from the 70's. Is it possible to throw a 20 gauge barrel on and use it? (without blowing up and killing myself)

If its not a 20 gauge, no! I don't beleive the smaller barrel would go on anyway.

Re: make a 20 gauge out of a 1100

It would have a completely different boltface diameter and the extractor would not mate with the barrel groove or grab the case rim. 20 gauge 1100 would have a smaller receiver and the barrel would rattle around in the 12 ga receiver. Barrel ring on a 20 ga barrel would be too small in diameter to go over the 12 ga magazine tube......... etc, etc, etc.

Not a do-able plan.
