Caldwell Lead Sled DFT

Cabelas had these on sale for $99.99, normally $220. So I got one and put it together. Seems like a very solid rest cant imagine with 50 pounds of lead on the shelf yet.

Anyone have one? Pro's or Con's???

The rests are great. Just no need to use too much weight. The gun and rest need to be able to give a little.

Our forefathers didn't bury their guns. They buried those that tried to take them.

Re: Caldwell Lead Sled DFT

Best purchase I have made in a long time. I do not strap the gun in or even use a lot of weight on it. And it is an awesome price.

We purchased one last year for our camp. Great product, that makes sighting in very easy.

Camp life,it don't get much better!

Re: Caldwell Lead Sled DFT

Wow, I am really unsure now. After doing a search online. I found countless people having problems with scopes failing. I am thinking maybe ill just stay with what is working, sand bags.

Re: Caldwell Lead Sled DFT

I still think if you use the pads, don't lock the rifle down, it's a great device. Especially for 3 shot zeroing.

I also just did some Googling and did not find anything definitive about damage. A lot of physics discussions, but nothing actual/factual. If you were really concerned, buy the $99 one, and take off the back butt plate and only use the rest (let the gun recoil into your shoulder).

I respect this opinion too : http://www.chuckhawks.com/caldwell_lead_sled_DFT.htm
