Painting a gun

I have a mossberg 500a. I'm thinking about painting it black. I don't think the wood part will be hard. I'm wondering about the barrels. I have access to a sand blasting cabinet. Is that safe to do if I plug each end with a cork or something?

I would google "dura coat"

Don't over think it, get some krylon an spray a coat or two on an matte coat to finish if you desire.
