Factory fresh rifle\ accurate/ how long????

How many rounds do you think a new rifle,be it A savage,Remington or Ruger, before it starts to change its accuracy???
I often see folks say" I got this new brand X rifle and right out of the box it shoots 1/2 inch groups at 200 yards." How long will it continue to do this?
No one ever states what that gun is doing after 250 rounds! Very few people keep track of such things or don't want say?
I myself, have shot some very accurate rifles to death! For me,accurate is a bug hole to 1 inch 5 shot groups, well, it use to be that way!I've slowed down. The price of powder, brass, primers and bullets, plus how hard it is to find these items, has helped.
I guess i am or was a "SHOOT-A-HOLIC". What about you????

Being around benchrest guns for quite a few years i'm a true believer that's when a good barrel comes to life is after 300 rounds. If properly cleaned it's whole life.

I have a Remington 40x, That I bought used in the early '80's. I personally put more than 1500 rounds thru it. This past spring I took it to the range & it shot a 5shot group at 100 yards that measured .287 of an inch.

If you take care of your rifle it will shoot great for along time.
