Plug Screw Size?

Anyone know the thread size of the plug screws I would need to fill the holes from iron sights on a Remington rifle? What about on a Marlin?

Re: Plug Screw Size?

That`s funny you should ask that question. I seam too always be looking for filler screws for base mount holes as I don`t use scopes, I use open sights. I am also looking for the sights themselves at times

Re: Plug Screw Size?

Haha... There seem to be two main sizes. Might just get both if no one knows the answer.

Re: Plug Screw Size?

Yep! I was speaking for the Remington. There was four sizes that were common. Alot of the old stuff and military was whatever the smith who tapped it had handy. 6-and 8 48 were most common, 6-32 was used also. For the front sight holes you can have them counterbored, that makes it perfectly flush so the cleaning cloth doesn't snag on them.

Re: Plug Screw Size?

Someone gave me a brand new box of Forster "fill" screws years ago, that had belonged to his dad. I've been in heaven ever since.
