UPS is the only way to do it. And they charge a butt-ton of money for it. You also have to take it to one of the main shipping hubs to ship it, they won't do it from one of the drop off places. For you Smitty, that means DuBois is probably your closest one, or perhaps State College.
The last few times I've shipped ammo, there was no hazmat fee, but they will only send it 2nd day, so it costs a ton.
The only stipulation for sending loaded ammo through UPS is that it must be shipped Ground. I write ORM-D on 4 sides of the box and draw a rectangle around it. It means "Other Regulated Materials, Domestic" and does not require a Hazmat fee like primers or powder. I have sent and received ammo many times with no additional charges and have always told them exactly what was in the box. Plus, my wife delivers for UPS and knew what needed to be done but specifically asked mgmt to double check.
Matt, if they are charging you to ship it 2nd day they are wrong. Question them about it. It must be shipped Ground.
Our forefathers didn't bury their guns. They buried those that tried to take them.
Last time I checked, USPS will send it too with the aformentioend ORM-D plackarded on ALL visible sides of the box. You might run into someone behind the counter that will disagree, but if you go on the USPS website, there are specific instructions on hwo to do it. They will of course only ground ship as well.

I've tried USPS. Every time was a no go. My ups packages always have ORM-D on them. When they charged me 2nd day, I told them I thought it had to go ground. That's when he told me 2nd day was the only way they do it now. I just don't ship it anymore.
