None of the above....No magnum is <span style="font-style: italic">"necessary"</span> for any PA big game hunting. Even an '06 will reach out effectively to 300 yds. plus if a shooter has the right load and knows how to shoot...Now if you're in the 1000 yard club, well, that's a different story.

With a .300 Win you can download to .06 or use managed recoil rounds and full power for bears or long range.

Re: Best magnum for PA.

I prefer the.458 Win mag more for when I'm hunting heavily wooded areas if the 350 gr bullet doesnt connect its possible the muzzle blast could do the killing and if I miss and hit a tree the bullet carrying over 5000 ft lbs of energy just might take down the tree falling on the intended game .....Its what ya call a trple threat

I have a 7mm,300weatherby,and 300rum, I like the 7,Just because the barrels on the others are long. 300 winchester would be my choice for all around cal.for the USA. Really don't need Magnums in Pa. I have a few others in my collection that will rock ya silly.

The 30 caliber magnums can easily wreck the meat on a whitetail deer..The 7mm MAG is a very all around choice..It will kill a bear with plenty of wallop..The 270WSM and 7mmWSM are good choices also...

If it were just deer and smaller I would've said the 257 Wby. With bear on the menu I said 300 Win because I'm not a fan of the 7 Rem. But as others stated standard rounds work fine in PA.

That's all dependent on the type of bullet used, and shot placement. I've ruined more meat with a .257 Roberts than I have my 300 RUM.

I think I'm an alright guy, I think I'm alright
