bore snake vs otis system

I was thinking about upgrading some of my cleaning supplies.
I mostly have an old piece of junk aluminum rod with missmatched pieces maiking cleaning a pain.
I have used bore snakes in the past and I like them.
I was wondering how the otis compares. I know nothing about them other than they are the same kind of breach first system. It seems as though the bore snake would be faster due to the increased surface area.
My calibers are .17 through .45 and .410 through 10 gauge.
Any recomendations?
I'm really trying to make the whole process simpler and faster because my free time is close to zero and my firearms have been neglected.
Also is there any new miracle cleaning products out?
Is rem oil still a good choice?
Thanks for your help.

The snakes are a great cleaning aid but are not a substitution for a thorough cleaning with a brush, patches, and solvent.I use em for maintenance cleaning between brush cleanings. It also depends how often you shoot your gun.A rifle hardly ever shot would get by but not a rifle that gets extensive shootin.

Re: bore snake vs otis system

stay away from bore snakes all you are doing after theb first pull is dragging dirt and grime thru your barrel. if you want to clean your guns right invest in a good one piece tippton rod, a set of brass jags, proper cleaning patches, a bore giude and proper bore solvent such as butches bore shine and good copper cleaner such as barnes cr-10 or sweets 7.62. there are many other good solvents out there just giving a few examlpes.

The otis system is great for revolvers, pump rifles and lever action rifles.
