Re: Dontcha hate it when,,,,,
Virtually ALL Sporting goods stores/gun shops that buy and sell guns want to get between 35% and 45% PROFIT from the gun they just bought from you and you better bet your buttski, they are going to try and get the LOWEST possible pay out to you that they can! What you THINK the gun is worth and what you're going to get for it at a gun shop are two completely different numbers. If you want to get even close to what you think it's worth, sell it outright. If not...suck it up and take the hit, because that's the way it is. My old store is the same way and there was only so much we were allowed to give a customer based on BB values. Your sentimental "value" for a gun goes out the window the second you walk it through the front doors of the store. If it had that much sentimental value in the first place, why sell it? I am lucky in some respect in that when I'm in the market for a new, gently used firearm, I pretty much know what they're worth and the guys behind the counter will always tell me what they paid for the gun. For example, I picked up a brand, spanking new Winchester Model 1300 full camo Universal Hunter series shotgun for $175.00 plus tax and pics check. The gun cannot be purchased for less than $300.00+ anywhere...and I've looked believe me. The store paid $125.00...FOR A BRAND NEW IN THE BOX GUN!!!
