Consecutive Years

Was wondering how many years in a row you were successful bagging a buck. Was it on private or public land and what was the most inportant thing you did for such success.Be truthful and honest.

Re: Consecutive Years

10 years in a row, archery buck. Stand location and height is most important for me. I know this is the firearms forum... same things apply.

Alrighty then!

Re: Consecutive Years

Been hunting 16 years.

Bucks Taken: 0
Bucks Missed: 1
Bucks Seen: 2

Squirrels Seen: Hundreds

I have yet to take a deer of any kind. Granted, I don't hunt extremely hard and I have never purchased a doe tag (until this year.) I've seen doe every year, so I assume that will mean I won't see anything at all this season.

So to answer your question: 16 consecutive years of FAILING to harvest a deer.

Re: Consecutive Years

I'm currently on a three year streak. Over the course of my nearly 40 years of hunting, I've averaged a buck about every other year.

Re: Consecutive Years

Tagged out in archery season the last 16 years. Last year though only a doe took and arrow. Had a MONSTER 6 point 5 feet from the base of my stand on 3 separate occasions but just could not seem to grow a brow tine on him. Had another very large racked and bodied 6 point on a friend's place in 2F last year too but never took the shot as there were other bigger deer in the area. This year, if I see him, he'll be a 5 year old and even if he doesn't get any better, he's gonna catch an arrow in the boiler room. Own a bunch of quality deer rifles, just never seem to need to lug one around until last year. Hope THAT doesn't become a habit. lol

Re: Consecutive Years

On the family farm, I think my best streak was 2 years in a row. I typically shoot a buck about every other year. I went my first 6 or 7 years without shooting a buck though. Been hunting for 20+ years.
