If they could only talk....
I got a chance today to dissassemble and go over a 98 Mauser I picked up not long ago. I can't help but wonder about how much literal killing it has done. Its a 1906 Danzig, so it saw service in WW1. Probably killed French boys, British boys, our doughboys, etc. It had an arsenal rebarrel in 1939 by the third reich, and saw service in WW2. Again, most likely killed allied troops. There are no import marks, so I am assuming some GI sent it home. It is in a 1960's Fajen rollover stock, and undoubtedly has been hunting deer and bear in Pa since then. In service for 106 years, and still in top shape, ready to go to war or the woods. How many products made today can hold a candle to that?
