chrome dip of some sort?

This is kind of random and off topic but i figured it is "Firearm Related" so you all are very wise and inteligent i thought i'd ask here.

I have a S&W sigma 9mm that i carry in the field, rarely target shoot with and looking to do something fun with it.
Asked this question in a different shooters forum and nobody could help me.

I was wondering if i can get the metal slide piece chromed or even refinished. I have some nasty scratches on the top part of the slide. (wife's wedding ring dont ask)

looking to see if;
1. it is even legal to do so
2. where i could get that done?

thanks for the replies in advance

I don't see why you couldn't chrome it. But it won't be cheap. As far as legality as long as you don't alter or obscure the serial number it should be legal. Contact the s&w custom shop they mat even be able to do it for you.

the thrill is not in the kill, but in the experience
