Best AR-15 for the money?

I am looking to buy my first AR-15 and don't want to spend a fortune. I'd like to stay around $1,000.00. I am planning to get a 16" barrel. I will be shooting at coyotes (hopefully) out to about 250 yards (out of state) so maybe I should go with a longer barrel? Any recommendations on brand, model, barrel length?

I I. Am in the market as well I was pretty much sold on the smith and wesson mp tactical but recently spikes tactical was reccomended after reading some reviews I think I'm going with the spikes in a midlengthfrom whar I've read both are prettyre
liable.

16" barrel will be fine, just have to find a load that it likes and groups well at 250.

With your price range you can get whatever you want short of a Colt and the other high end 'tactiacl' piston guns

Bushmaster, remington, stag any of the above will fit your bill.
If you were looking for a serious long range gun then I would say look at Match Grade rifles, but not for 250.

Go with Daniels Defense and never look back. Super accurate and you won't find one more reliable.

Pick one of these and roll with it! I personally have a Spikes.

Re: Best AR-15 for the money?

Thanks Guys, I'll look into them. After researching a bit I see that Cabelas has the Smith and Wesson M&P15 on sale for $939. I initially thought I'd buy a gun somewhere else but I have $200 in gift cards there so it might be the way to go unless they are overpriced. Is that a good deal?

Re: Best AR-15 for the money?

I have a Daniels Defense, DPMS, Bushmaster and I sold my R-15 last week. The DD is step above the others. I've never owned a Spikes Stag or BCM but I've heard good things about them. And I think we all know Colt's reputation in the Ar world.

Also, where can you purchase Spikes, Daniels, etc.? I see them online but do any gun shops carry them?

Re: Best AR-15 for the money?

DMPS is probably the best AR value on the market IMO
