mossberg 835 firing trouble

my 835 is giving me trouble....did it during turkey season and now the other day while duck hunting....if I fire it immediately after loading it fires, but if I load it and wait to shoot, it wont go off...not sure if it's a weka firing pin or not...wondering if anyone else had this trouble and what tehe fix was?

Re: mossberg 835 firing trouble

My guess would be that the entire action, trigger and safety assemblies need to be thoroughly cleaned.

X2. They break down fairly easily, and like stool shooter said, it probably just needs a really good cleaning. Follow your manual and break her down. Then flush our the trigger group with gun scrubber and lightly lubricate when dry. Do the same for the bolt and the inside of the receiver and wipe clean. Wipe all the action bars clean and then LIGHTLY lubricate the whole thing and then reassemble. If that doesn't fix your problem then it may need to go to a gunsmith. I clean my waterfowl and my turkey 835s twice a year like that and have never had a single malfunction. Good luck.
