7mm08 vs 30.6

which one would you be hunting with size and wieght not an issue here there but the same model sako rifles.

some shoot archery,others perfect it

What are we hunting and where? What is the body type and shooting/hunting experience of the shooter?

If forced to answer what I personally would do with no additional info but what's above, I'd pick the .30-06. I'm not a small guy, I've shot the '06 for decades, and it will do about anything I want to do for hunting.

If, however, we're talking someone less up to the recoil, or if we're only talking whitetails in PA, well, then the 7-08 looks more appealing than it would if, say, elk in Montana was on the menu. Not that the 7-08 isn't able to kill elk, mind you, I'd just prefer the '06 for that task.

For deer at 300 yards or less, though, the 7-08 is a proven round, and does it with less recoil on the shooter.

For all around hunting capabilities, I'd take the '06.

which ever one you want. both will kill in 1 shot at any distance you are able to shoot.

It's not just over rated it's over kill. The 30-06 is a great cartridge, just not necessary for whitetails.
