Whelen off the bench...WOW !

Getting ready for Bear camp, I spent an hour with the 35 Whelen this afternoon. WoW ! Offhand not so bad, but from the bench that thing really jacks your jaw! I don't remember it being so rough ! Anyway, its ready and so am I !

ya my 7600 whelen carbine will eject the shells itself with the 250 grain loads unsupported off the sand bag. it opens your eyes for sure. never shot it offhand yet but its all ready for the monday after thanksgiving.

Re: Whelen off the bench...WOW !

I can tell from your posts you love that gun, I feel the same about mine. Mine is not a carbine, but its a beauty. I have not used mine in a while, and made a resolution this year to use some of my guns I have neglected. I make sure my thumb is around the grip so I don't get poked in the nose by that beast!

Re: Whelen off the bench...WOW !

Shot my new to me 7600 .35 Whelen last weekend from the bench with 250 grainers. Gotta say I love mine too, I was grinnin' from ear to ear shooting it! Put nine down the tube.

My 35 Whelen is the most accurate Model 7600/760 I've ever had..Groups like a bolt action..A GOOD bolt action.

Re: Whelen off the bench...WOW !

My M700 classic .35 Whelen does not kick much more than a 30-06, when shooting Remington .35 Whelen 200 gr ammo. With 225 gr bullets, there's noticeably more recoil. But, it's accurate with all of them.

I wish I could find a 35 whelen pump that was reasonably priced. They seem very hard to come by.

You can't get em from the couch.

Yep, 700 classic has a nice pad, 7600 has a plastic buttplate! OUCH !

Re: Whelen off the bench...WOW !

Perhaps I am not aware of need for a 250 gr in .35 Whelen, I have a bunch of 210 gr Noslers loaded up for .338 Win mag. Not too rough to shoot but my regular rifle is a .300 Win mag. Guess I am becoming recoil addicted.
