325 WSM

I am thinking about buying a 325 WSM in a BLR. Is anybody shooting the 325 WSM? What are your thoughts.

Re: 325 WSM

I had one and was unimpressed to say the least. The ammo is expensive and even though I reload there is a very limited bullet selection available.
I have stuck with the old 338 Win Mag and am quite happy with it.jmho.

I'm sticking with my 340 Weatherby Mag. 8mm's are not very successful in America.

Re: 325 WSM

Don't own one, but for the availability of .323" bullets compared to the more popular .30 calibers and the recoil as compared to some of the 30's I would tend to look elsewhere.

Re: 325 WSM

I have 1 and absolutely love it! Imo it's the best large game caliber out there. I reload all my ammo, I shoot 200gr accubonds out of it. I have killed a nice bear and a bull elk with it i the past 2 yrs and both were dead on the first shot. If you want to shoot anything under 180gr I would suggest a smaller caliber, but not sure why anybody would want to shoot lighter bullets if they bought a 325.

Re: 325 WSM

I do not have one. Nor have I ever had one. I have not even shot one. However I do have a good bit of experience with the 8mm Remmy. I truly believe the 325 WSM is the hidden jewel of the WSM line. If only the ammo prices were not so out of control. Tom.

Re: 325 WSM

I am looking to either push 200g or 220g. I already have a 300 win mag. I thought the 325 wsm in a Browning Blr would make the perfect bear gun.

If thats what you want, go for it. Dont worry about what others think. Sure it does not have the bullet selection that the 30's have, so what. It does have the weight's you would like to shoot. The 325 in a BLR sounds like a great great combo for bear.

Good luck, Tony

Post some pics when you get it.

Re: 325 WSM

IMO Winchester should have kept going and opened up the Short Mag. case to .338 cal. I think it would have been more successful.

They tried the 338wsm prior to making the 325 and were not satisfied with the velocities they got so they scapped the project and developed the 325.
