Savage Axis

Wal Mart has the Savage Axis for $267. Wondering how they are now, know when they first came out many complaints.

Re: Savage Axis

I donít own the Axis but do own two of the Savage Stevens 200. I opted for the camo stocks. Every thing I have heard on the Axis has been good with the exception some do have a stiff trigger, But it can be lightened up if need be. I see you are in Indiana County, If not to far from Saltsburg I would give Ken Bee a call first , I would bet he will meet or beat Wally-worlds price. His number is 724-639-9707

I don't think anybody is going to beat $269. I'd recommend buying one right away at that price.

Re: Savage Axis

I shot one for the first time today. It was a friends in .308 and it shot surprisingly well for being such a budged minded firearm. I'm someone who can't leave well enough alone and I would probably start with a used Stevens in the same price range because the aftermarket is more readily available but his shot impressively for me. Trigger is terribly heavy compared to what I usually shoot though.

Re: Savage Axis

At 269 I would pick it up. If you are someone that is not happy with what it is then I would not start with this gun only because the recoil lug is built into the stock and not the action. But if you dont plan on changing the stock out I would get one you cant beat that price.

Now if I wanted a budget gun that could get the job done I would be picking one of these up.
