used one for years, great gun and dependable as can be. accurate as you can get from a 30-30 lever. only complaint was if you didn't work the lever like you absolutely meant business it would jam.

It is the shallowest water that makes the most noise.

Re: Mossberg Lever Actions

I never knew Mossberg made lever actions.

But I have a Marlin 336 clone (Glenfield Model 30AS) and a Winchester '94 top eject.

I can honestly say, even though the Glenfield is a tad heavier, it just flat out fits me. I look at a deer, bring that rifle to my shoulder and the deer magically appears in the center of the 4x scope. For me, it's darn near like shooting a shotgun.....The rifle butt hits my shoulder...the crosshairs are on...The recoil takes the deer out of the scope. Time to unsheath the knife.

Don't let the name fool Ya!

Re: Mossberg Lever Actions

Mossberg used to make a model 472 I believe. The one they make now is a model 464.Have never handled the new one, but shot an older one when I was a teenager back in the early 80's. Nothin special, just a run of the mill 30-30.

Callin all trucks this here's the Duck, we about to go hunting bear!

Re: Mossberg Lever Actions

I'm mostly unimpressed by Mossberg's poor imitation of the Winchester 94 they currently offer. I'm a big fan of the 94 though so weak imitations aren't going to excite me.
