I have been to several auctions at Reddings, and did ok at them. The collectible stuff usually brings premium money. If you stick with run of the mill stuff you can do ok. I have seen several guns break the $10,000 mark. I generally do much better at Wherely's in Glen Rock.
The link to the auction WildBill put is pretty much a normal auction for them. You guys would be amazed when he has a big collectible auction, when they have 20 or 30 old collectible winchesters and colts and stuff. They get call in bidders from all over the country.
Good example, a couple years ago 2 guys and a phone bidder got into a bidding war over a pre 64 model 70 in 22 hornet that was unfired but no box. It sold for $8,100
Well I just sold 4 guns at Redding's auction. The high bid prices were so-so - but after paying the 18% commission, I was upset at my returns.
